Military Admissions

Welcome to MSU Texas

Now that you've decided to join the exciting Mustangs community, we want to make your application process as easy as possible. Once you've applied, we've also provided you with a checklist for Next Steps. Let's get started!

How to Apply

STEP 1: Complete Your Application

If you are applying as a first-time freshman for Fall 2025, we encourage you to use the Mustang Advantage Application for a streamlined experience.

For all other applicants, including transfer, re-enrolling, international, or graduate students, please apply through Apply Texas. Once you have completed your profile, you will be able to apply to MSU Texas.

STEP 2: Submit Official Transcripts and Test Scores

All incoming students must submit transcripts from prior schools, including high school transcripts and, where applicable, dual credits earned from other two-year or four-year institutions.

Transfer Students

If you have earned fewer than 12 hours of college credit, you will need to submit your high school transcripts in addition to college transcripts.

International Students

If your transcripts are in a language other than English, you will also need to submit an official translation.

First-Year Applicants

If you earned credit through Advanced Placement (AP) or the College Level Examination Program (CLEP), you can request your credits to be sent to us through the College Board.

If you have earned International Baccalaureate (IB) credits, visit IB America's Transcript Request.

Please Note: We are a Test-Optional Institution.

What does 'Test-Optional' mean and how does it affect me?

You have the option to decide whether or not you will submit ACT or SAT test scores without impact to our decision-making process.

Are there benefits to submitting my test scores?

Test scores can be used for math and English course placement. They won't substitute for credit, but with some degree programs starting at a higher course level, they could end up saving you time and money.

Additionally, some scholarship opportunities use test scores to determine eligibility.

  • If you are re-enrolling after a year+ absence, you are responsible only for the $10 re-enrollment fee.
